Welcome to Western Health Information Network
Western Health Information Network (WHIN) is a not for profit community benefit corporation established in 2003 as a Health Information Organization (HIO) to fill the urgent need for Southern California providers to access critical patient health information at the point of care for the purposes of treatment.
In 2007, WHIN was awarded a multi-million dollar contract to participate in the National Health Information Network (NHIN) Trial Implementation Performance Contract. Our achievement as part of this contract was: successfully building our HIE infrastructure, designing and implementing our interfaces and integration elements, developing our data participants’ partnerships, and building our talented team of HIE subject matter experts. The foresight and preparation of the WHIN founders allows the leveraging of WHIN’s existing experience and assets to support the goals of the HITECH Act.
